I purchased the black & decker SPCM1936 last year after researching several cordless mowers. I have a smaller yard in the Pacific Northwest where the grass can grow very thick. I have to say that I feel that I made the right mower choice. The B&D SPCM1936 has plenty of power to mow the thick grass in my front, side and back yards and I never have to worry about purchasing gas for the mower. (The nearest gas station is several miles away in heavy city traffic)

Actually, after my gas mower died, I tried a corded mower, but decided to give a cordless mower a try after running over my cord several times with the mower. Mowing a power cord will get your blood pumping, let me tell you!

I don't know how well the SPCM1936 will perform on a larger yard. The specs say that it will cut up to a third of an acre on one battery charge. My yard is a fair bit smaller than that. I guess you could buy a second battery if your yard is bigger as they are swappable.

The fact that this lawn mower "pulls it's own weight" via self-propelled wheels is a big plus. The battery does ad a little weight and makes this the heaviest mower I have owned. The only downside that I can see with a battery powered mower is that if you forget to plug it in, you are going to be in for a wait. To get 100% power in a drained battery takes up to 12 hours.
