For the list of books we selected five courses that represent a moderately difficult freshman workload at each college.

Electronic textbook prices were not considered. FindersCheapers used or rental textbook prices were cheaper than the electronic versions available at campus bookstore websites for just about all textbooks checked.

FindersCheapers.com can often save you more than this survey indicates. We took the lowest price from a university bookstore and compared it with the lowest price item OF THE SAME CONDITION. If you are willing to buy used or rent a book when the bookstore only has new copies you can save more. While we focused on textbooks FindersCheapers also finds the best prices for other school supplies such as the I Clicker and graphing calculators.

While textbook rentals often have the least initial cash outlay, you may save more money in the long run by buying used books online and then selling them online via Amazon Marketplace or Half.com after your course is complete.
