Simply slide it to where you want the fixture, and when you turn the knob it expands the metal to secure the bar in the slot. Bolts lock by expanding the miter bar. The tapered head of the screw spreads the bar open so it pushes into the sides BUILT TO LAST: All pieces are constructed from solid metal.
