Having lived in Seattle for many years I was intrigued to see a show set in the Emerald City—Grey’s Anatomy. At first I was hungry for shots of the city with all of its charms: ferry boats, misty mountains, people walking around with coffee cups in hand. It quickly became apparent that the natural beauty/quirkiness of the area was not the star of the show but that was OK. My disappointment was replaced by a strange desire to see what four surgical interns were up to each week at Seattle’s Mercy Grace Hospital. Fans of Sandra Oh’s performance in the indie hit Sideways will get to see plenty of her along with Ellen Pompeo (of In The Weeds fame), Katherine Heigel (did you know she played the 14-year old daughter of Gerard Depardieu in My Father The Hero?), and Justin Chambers (the sheriff in Southern Belles—funny movie). Oh yes, there is also T.R. Knight about whom I know nothing though he is my favorite character—George. The first season introduced us to the cast of the show and laid the groundwork for what could have been a great second season. Personally, I was disappointed. How is it possible that people who work in a hospital moan more than the patients? Sigh…That being said, Grey’s Anatomy-Season Two does continue what was started during Season One and is necessary to watch in order to understand Season Three (OK—this is an overstatement. Like all soap operas, whether they come on during the day or during the night, things move slowly and then things move slowly again.). If you just can’t get enough of Meredith, Dr. McDreamy and company, pick up the complete Season Two DVD set and get the 2005-2006 episodes plus all the usual DVD extras.
