  • Excerpt from Journal of the Ninety-Eighth Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of North Carolina: Held in the Church of the Good Shepherd Raleigh, May 19-21 A. D. 1914A deed dated December 8, 1913, has been given to J. W. Manness for an acre of land in Moore County on which stood St. Philip's Church, Noise. The Mission at this place has long been closed as the colored congregation had removed and the buildings fallen to decay. At the urgent request of the Bishop the Trustees have sold this lot and also a thirty-acre tract in Moore County formerly used in connection with this work, and authorized the Bishop to devote the proceeds of the sale to Similar work in other places.January 27, 1914, the Trustees received from Joseph Lambert, of Littleton, the first annual payment of for the benefit of St. Anna's Colored Mission at that place, for the privilege of running the supply pipe to his Saw mill under the land of the Mission, as agreed upon by the parties interested.April 30, 1914, the Trustees paid to Mr. Thos. P. Dillon, agent and trustee, towards the building fund of the new Church of St. Paul at Monroe, in accordance with the wishes of the donor of the same, the late Mrs. John Vann.The Trustees further report that in accordance with the action or the last Diocesan Convention in providing that the Trustees of the Diocese Should appoint a clerk to keep a record of their action they have appointed the Rev.
