Roses are best planted in the spring (after the last frost) or in fall (at least six weeks before your average first frost). Sow. Place rose seeds between two layers of lightly dampened paper towels. Then put them in the fridge for 6 to 12 weeks. After that, seeds will sprout. Sun. Roses prefer a full day of sun. Give roses at least six to eight hours of direct sun a day. Watering. On a standard summer day with decent heat, you will need to water every two or three days, and in warm dry weather you will only need to water about once a week.
