Gunwale must be 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 wide and 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick, with lip being toward cockpit side. Rubber pad protects canoe side where it touches. Strong and corrosion-resistant. All aluminum with stainless steel hardware. No wood.A Convenient: Only type of mount that leaves your canoe cockpit open - not cluttered up by a crossbar.
