This sensor, in conjunction with the BIONZ X image processor, allows for high-resolution stills and video, reduces noise, and enhances speed. The sensor structure is designed to enhance detail and improve light collection. This is achieved through a gapless on-chip lens design, an anti-reflection coating, and the removal of the optical low-pass filter. The structure also includes a copper wiring layer that significantly boosts data transmission speed. This allows for the creation of 14-bit, high-resolution 42.4-megapixel stills. The sensor has a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000, which can be extended to ISO 50-102400. The full-frame sensor allows for internal UHD 4K video recording, offering a broad dynamic range across the entire width of the sensor. The BIONZ X processor, in collaboration with a high-speed front-end LSI, delivers faster processing times and the ability to capture a remarkable 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivity levels. This combination of sensor and processor also provides rapid continuous shooting at a rate of up to 10 fps at full resolution, for a maximum of 76 consecutive frames.
