Prepare the soil 3 weeks before the last expected spring frost or when the soil temperature reaches 45 degrees F. These short, stocky carrots can grow even in heavy soil. Build up a raised mound in the row, about 8" wide. sow the seeds on it, and cover them with 1/4" very loose soil. Keep the soil moist, but do not allow the area above the seeds to become hard - this may prevent the carrot seeds from germinating. Sow more seeds every 3-6 weeks for a continuous crop. When the seedlings reach 2" high, gently thin them to 2-4" apart, depending on desired carrot size. The farther apart they are, the bigger they will grow. Do not allow the soil to dry out. carrots prefer soil that is evenly moist and well-draining. The soil only needs a moderate level of nitrogen, as too much nitrogen may cause forking. This plant is hardy, and can be grown in Spring and Fall, as long as temperatures are between 45 and 75 degrees. After 75 days, carrots are ready to be harvested. Use a garden fork to help edge each carrot out of the soil, and then pull the root out of the ground. Carrots should be washed and kept in cool storage. These carrots are especially good for juicing, adding a sweet element to dishes paired with spices, or eaten individually raw or sauteed as a satisfying and healthy snack. All multiple orders of the same seed are put in the same bag. For example if you order 500 beefsteak tomato seeds x 3 then 1500 seeds will be put in the same bag. We do not send out 3 individual bags with 500 in each. This goes for all seeds unless they are listings of different seeds
