I had also stated that in Part III we should have to 'consider at length' the questions affecting the origin Of the book of Deuteronomy, 'in order to be able to detect the passages due to its author in the books of Genesis, Exodus, &c.' I have found it necessary, however, in this Part to confine myself to the latter portion Of my proposed undertaking, in order that I might do the work required more thoroughly, and place the evidence, in as clear and complete a form as possible, before the eyes of my readers.
