Excerpt: ...and those of the Leading Quakers, I now proceed to consider the good Agreement between the ZWy/Zical Scheme of the Quakers and that of Mr. Woolston, in various Respects. And this I think incumbent on me as I am professedly a Vindicator of the Assertions of the B. of L. whose Words, abstracting from the forementioned Comparison of H. N. and G. Fox are these. "-I am far, however, from con " demning the Luakers as Deists. since " many of that Sect have been, and no " doubt now are, well-meaning tho' igno ' norant Persons, that have been imposed " on by their. Leaders. but I cannot ac " quit the Founde-rs and Heads of that " Sect from having been Dei/Zs in an Al " legarical Disguise." The B. of L. ex plains himself farther thus----" He Mr. P-V" " has superadded a more Libertine " and_ profane Ridicule of the most Sacred " things, as likewise the Palliation of it by falsified or improper Quotations of " the Fathers." AND in regard to Mr. PV. He is intro-See Mr. duced by the B. of L. as speaking thus, in W the Body of his Vindicatiorz, out of that 5o£5££ " pcal, in the Opinion of the Fathers, for ' his Authority and Meffiah/hip? Was it " to his Typical, or Antitypical Works? " Was it to the Shadow, or the Substance' " of his Operations?" To these Questions of Mr. 17. the B. of L. returned several Answers, which shall here be omitted, excepting the Third, which relates to the Quakers. namely, " That it is a gross Con ternal ffzsus by the Christ within them, and the iteral Resurrection of the former by the Spiritual and Moral one of the latter. an Errour, that is express-ly condemned by St. Paul."...
