• This 6-piece Bushcraft auger bit set by Woodowl is designed to effortlessly bore holes in wood when off the grid. The perfect size hole can be made for lashings, hooks, dowel pegs, camp furniture, cooking systems, rocket stoves, shelters, traps, mallets, sawhorses, tapping trees for sap and wasting away material when making bowls and cups. Deep holes can even be drilled in logs to extract dry wood for starting fires. The kit is easily to transport and weights just 2.3 pounds. The 1-inch diameter x 8 inch long hardwood T-handle is fitted with a solid brass hex adapter that accepts both 1/4 inch and 5/16 inch hex shanks, the most common sizes found on auger bits. Bits can be easily changed by loosening and tightening the 9/16 inch stainless steel knurled knob. The T-handle provides sufficient leverage for turning bits up to 1-1/2 inch in diameter. The set includes the following auger bit sizes: 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4 and 1 inch. These auger bits are made in Japan by WoodOwl and are the finest auger bits available anywhere. These bits have a single flute, single cutting head and single spur. These bits cut clean and fast holes. They come hand sharpened. The flutes have a phosphate coating (Parkerizing) to eliminate clogging, facilitate chip ejection and to protect from corrosion. These bits can be resharpened using any auger sharpening file. The 14-pocket tool is made from polyester canvas with double stitching at the intersections and polyester banding at the closure strap. This tool roll easily fits this set and allows you to expand your collection. Open size is 26 inch x 13 inch. The 12 large pockets are 2-3/4 inch wide by 4-1/2 inch deep and will handle tool diameters up to 1-1/2 inch. The two small pockets are 1-3/4 inch wide and will handle tool diameters up to 3/4 inch.
